This June, India Shawn returns with her genre-bending new single, “Kill Switch.” The song highlights India’s mesmerizing voice and weaves the story of reclaiming one’s power.  “Kill Switch” germinated the morning of the recording session with India waking of with the phrase “anybody else but you.” When India arrived at the studio, Livvy Bennett and Michael Hunter (of indie rock band Mamalarky) were jamming on ideas that would shape the song, and that line clicked perfectly into place over the chords.  D’Mile brought the production to life, and Varren  Wade helped flesh out the melody and lyrics.  Said India, “’Kill Switch’” is an unexpected shift, as I move away from the familiar shadows of unreturned love and reclaim the power to decide my own fate.  It’s a song about recognizing the potential danger of crossing the line from friends to lovers, and trying to safeguard what’s real before it becomes too messy; “this could turn from a good thing to hate, keep it shallow for our own sake.”

India Shawn recently released “There Must Be A God”—the soul-stirring anthem that served as the end-credit song for Andscape’s Hulu film “She Taught Love” —India continues to solidify her space as a voice that moves between the celestial and the familiar, carrying echoes of something eternal yet intimately known. The official music video debuted on Vevo on December 6, 2024, followed by a mesmerizing live performance that reaffirmed her ability to captivate audiences with her ethereal and emotive style.

Her critically acclaimed album Before We Go (Deeper) cemented her as a powerhouse in alternative R&B, earning praise from Billboard, NPR, UPROXX, and Noisey.
